Supervisors Vote 3-to-2 to Slash Library Funding

December 18, 2019 – UNT Supervisors Meeting

DONNA HIRST, MIKE RINKER, AND ROB DISBROW VOTED TO CUT FUNDING TO THE LIBRARY BY 50%. BRIAN PULLIAN AND SCOTT SYLVANIUS VOTED AGAINST.

Public Comment

Before the vote, a resident asked the supervisors what they wanted their legacy to be?  Except for the sport’s fields, the library is the only cultural activity funded by the township.  He also asked how much is in the township’s rainy day fund – Answer: $1.5 million.  Mike Rinker pointed out that these funds can only be used for an emergency.

Approval of the 2020 Recreation Budget.

4 to 1 Approval of Ordinance N. 183 which will impose an additional 0.25% EIT (Earned Income Tax) Open Space Funding. Robert Disbrow voted against.

  1. Thank you Becky
My husband and I are so upset about the decision by UNT to slash the library budget and are glad we live in Lower Nazareth although we may be impacted by the decision also. Great job getting the info out so quickly.
