PUBLIC COMMENT
A Tatamy Road resident who’s experienced repeated problems with stormwater flooding, requested an update on installing a drain connection to the quarry. He also asked about a proposal a couple of years ago to add another 55-and-older apartment complex on 4th Street. He said the addition of more blacktop will result in increased stormwater runoff and that the retention pond currently in place is inadequate.
Scott Sylvainus said that the township is not aware of any movement on the project since the Faust Corporation sent out letters to local residents. He also said that requirements for retention ponds have been changed and any new construction would have to conform to the updated code.
I reported that sports and parent traffic continues to originate from the 4th Street gate and travel through Farmview Estates. This has been a reoccurring problem over the years due to school employees leaving the gate open. Representatives from the Fire Department recommended the District add a sensor or timer to the gate so it will close automatically after someone exits. Scott Sylvainus requested the Manager get a copy of the original approval of that gate. The Township and Police Chief will get in touch with the Superintendent about the issue.
ENGINEER
The lighting for Scenic View is waiting to be installed.
The traffic study for 936 is currently underway.
The Engineer met with Heidelberg Materials concerning discharging stormwater from Tatamy Road into the quarry. He described the meeting as positive although there’s currently no commitment for the project. The company has questions about treating discharged water and the effects on the water level in the quarry. Brian Sayago asked if there were other businesses associated with the quarry and was told that there were three stakeholders which may need to be consulted. The Engineer warned that there would not be a quick resolution for this problem but he is putting together hydrological calculations for the project. Solicitor Gary Asteak has been in contact with the quarry’s legal counsel.
SOLICITOR
