ANNOUNCEMENTS/EVENTS

Leaf pickup in the township began on October 30th

November 18th – Last day in 2023 to use the Yard Waste facility on Friedenstahl Ave

December 1st – 7:00 PM Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Municipal Building

Prior to the meeting, the Board held an Executive Session about Real Estate

PUBLIC COMMENT

A resident from Tatamy Road spoke again about flooding problems in his area and asked if there was anything the Township could do. The Engineer said the Supervisors have authorized a study, but any action will take time. No decision has been made concerning the proposal to pump floodwater into the quarry. Future possibilities include lowering the swale on Tatamy Road or collecting the water and pumping it someplace else.  He also said the Floodplain Ordinance would apply in this case.

SUPERVISORS

Robert Disbrow asked about a letter from the Library indicating that one of the UNT Library Board reps was censured. He requested that the Library provide more details in writing.

ENGINEER

The Engineer reported that the traffic study on Route 946 will be submitted soon

SOLICITOR

Approval to advertise Ordinance No. 192 – a Zoning Map Amendment. (The Planning Commission and LVPC have already reviewed the amendment.)

Approval to schedule a Public Meeting on December 6, 2023 at 7:00PM on the Zoning Map Amendment

Approval to advertise for a CPA firm for an audit of 2023 finances.

Approval to advertise a motion to vacate a portion for Central Avenue

MANAGER

Manager Lisa Klem, Scott Sylvainus and Police Chief Cope met with the NASD Superintendent about problems with the 4th Street gate used by the Intermediate School. Suggestions include better management of the gate by the school district and encouraging students to use 5th Street. Conversations on this issue will continue.

Approval to advertise for the Township Municipal Building Expansion Bid Specs (Brian Sayago voted against)

Approval to advertise the 2024 General Fund and Liquid Fuels Budget (Supervisors have held 4 meetings on the budget) No tax increase is included in this budget

Approval of the 2024 Holiday Schedule

The township will be switching their Health Care Plan over to Highmark PPO

MS4 STORMWATER

The Engineer and Board thanked the EAC for organizing a clean up of the creek from Penn Allen Road to Daniels Road. Eleven volunteers spent 2 hours removing trash and other debris from the area.

RECREATION

Kristin Mullen reported that the township’s first Trunk or Treat event was a big success. She thanked Public Works, the Police Department, the Fire Department and a local Ambulance company for their assistance.

EAC

Approval of a proposal from Edge of the Woods for native fruit and nut trees to be planted on land recently preserved near Gun Club Road

The Environmental Advisory Committee has been talking with landowners and ranking land preservation projects. Currently, the EAC is considering 2 proposals for preserving land

Approval for an Appraisal for Application for 2023-03. This is for a 33 acre parcel of land
