PUBLIC COMMENT

A 5th Street resident complained about high school students parking in her neighborhood. She reported problems with cars blocking driveways, blocking mailboxes which inhibits mail delivery and ‘trapping’ resident’s vehicles by parking so closely that they cannot leave. The township has an ordinance which prohibits anyone parking closer than 10 feet from someone’s mailbox but the Police say it’s not enforceable unless signs are posted. She said someone on her street is handicapped and the student’s cars are making it difficult for that person to get to his car. She asked if she could post her own sign but Gary Asteak said owner signs aren’t enforceable. She also said that the students should not be parking on 4th Street as the buses use that road and students walk there. Scott suggested that the township could require permits to park on those streets and that they will put an article in the next newsletter.

BILLS

Kristin Mullen had a question about a bill from Keystone Engineering for the hydrological study in Farmview Estates. She said that the supervisors had only approved $8,500 but the township has been billed $12,000. The township will ask Keystone for an explanation before paying.

A Georgetown Road resident reported that, following an accident, two streetlights are out–one on Daniels Road, one on Georgetown Road

Farmview Drainage Hydrological Study – This study looks at ways to prevent flooding for residents along Tatamy Road, 1st Street and Friedenstahl Ave by discharging stormwater into the quarry. Heidelberg Material had asked questions about flow rates and the amount of water to be discharged. In the event of a 100-year storm, the study estimates that the rise of water in the quarry would be ½ foot. The engineers are currently looking at installing a 72 inch pipe under Tatamy road. Detention basins are also a possibility but the plan requires more study. The supervisors approved sending the report to the quarry for review. Brian Sayago said there are other options to this plan and that the township should also consider those.
