Upper Nazareth Supervisor’s Meeting – June 5, 2024

ANNOUNCEMENTS/EVENTS

The township office on Newport Avenue is currently under construction. Residents can enter through a side door. The box for Real Estate tax checks has been mounted onto a fence.

There is an open position on the Environmental Advisory Committee. Residents who’d like to serve should send a Letter of Interest to the Township Office.

June 8th – Electronic recycling event for UNT Residents from 9AM – 11AM at Tuskes Park and the Friedenstahl Yard Waste Facility

June 8th – The County will hold a free document shredding event for residents from 10AM – Noon at 2801 Emrick Blvd.

June 19th – Township Office CLOSED for Juneteenth Holiday

June 20th – Township Supervisors Meeting

June 22nd – Free movie night at Tuskes Park – “Wish”

July 3rd – CANCELLED Township Supervisors Meeting

July 13th – Free event at Tuskes Park from 11AM – 3PM in honor of Jahan Dotson

September 28th – County Household Hazardous Waste event beginning at 8AM. Registration is required and opens on August 28th

November 29th – Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Township Municipal Building

PUBLIC COMMENTS

I reported that Farmview Estate residents recently received another Quiet Title action from Faust Family Limited Partnership #2 and asked if the township had any recommendations for how residents should respond. Solicitor Gary Asteak said that Judge Kassis handed down a judgement in the resident’s favor following a trial in February. Also, Faust lost an appeal filed at the County level. Now Faust appealing to an appellate court.

SUPERVISOR’S COMMENTS

Brian Sayago reported that he and Township Manager Lisa Klem recently met with someone regarding the Police Pension plan and that the unfunded liabilities have been reduced. Supervisors will add agenda items to a future meeting to discuss increasing funding to the pension plan, to evaluate the investment policy and to make a contract with the township’s IT provider.

PLANNING& ZONING

Approval of an Extension Letter for Schoeneck Overlook until July 31, 2024. Scott Sylvainus said that the township will request that Chrin file for an extension until October 31, 2024 as their plan involves major changes and will have to go before the Planning Commission first.

RECREATION

The Township will co-host a free event with LVHN at Tuskes Park on July 13th from 11AM – 3PM. The event will honor NFL player Jahan Dotson and will include activities for children, information, a DJ and food.

Approval to purchase an LED sign for Tuskes Park for $23,311. William Bartlett expressed a concern that the sign’s brightness not bother neighbors. Lisa Klem said that the township will have to get a permit from PennDOT before the sign can be installed.

Community Days has been cancelled for 2024. It will be held in 2025 in the summer months.
