COURTESY OF THE FLOOR
A 5th Street resident spoke about the problems which have resulted from High School students parking on her street and said she felt threatened by police officers when she calls to report a car blocking her mailbox or driveway. She said she gotten a permit for a second driveway and put up a ‘no parking’ sign, but students continue to park there. When one of her family members had to park in front of her main driveway due to cars blocking the second driveway, the police ticketed her family member. (She called the State Police who told her that residents are allowed to park in front of their own driveways). When she complained about cars blocking mailboxes, the police told her people were allowed to block mailboxes which, several Supervisors pointed out, wasn’t true. She says she’s seen cars park in front of fire hydrants and not get ticketed and reported that the students left litter and trash on the street. Scott Sylvainus told her that the Supervisors would be taking a vote on limiting parking in her neighborhood later in the meeting.
A Broad Street Extension resident asked if the township has discussed anything about the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. Kristin Mullen told her this subject had come up during the Recreation Board meetings.

Gary Asteak gave an update on the Faust appeal (55 and over apartments on 4th Street). Faust lost twice at the Court of Common Pleas and has taken the case up to the Commonwealth Court. Unlike the previous cases, no resident has filed a brief in the case. Brian Sayago asked if the Township should get involved and Gary said all the township could do at this point was file a brief. Brian pointed out that that property has a history of stormwater problems. Scott Sylvainus said Faust may not be able to build additional structures on that land under current stormwater ordinances. Bill Bartlett asked Gary if he should recuse himself from any vote on the matter as he was part of the initial case in the Court of Common Pleas and Gary said “yes.”
Approval of Ordinance No. 200 to install additional stop signs along Blossom Hill and Gun Club Roads.
Approval of Ordinance No. 201 to place limitations on parking east of the High School from 7AM – 5PM on School Days. Residents will be allowed to park on their streets, but other cars could be ticketed during those hours if there’s a complaint.
