PUBLIC COMMENTS
A Penn Allen Road resident reported that speeding continues on her road and asked what would need to be done to drop the speed limit from 35mph to 25mph. Police Chief Cope said that they had the speed recorder up for a while and that only 1 out of every 30 cars is speeding, which he defined as 10mph over the speed limit (45mph). He said that, in his 30 years with the township, there has never been an accident on that particular stretch of road. Brian Sayago indicated a desire to move forward with the speed limit change, but Scott Sylvainus said this issue is in early stages and more study has to be done first.
I thanked the township for hosting the Electronic Recycling Event on Saturday, June 14th.
SUPERVISOR COMMENTS
William Bartlett spoke about a recent accident involving a tractor trailer on 4th Street near the High School. The truck knocked down a pole and wires. He asked if there was any way the township could limit truck traffic on some township roads. Gary Asteak said that all streets are public streets and, if any limitations are imposed, they won’t apply to fire trucks, school buses or local deliveries. Police Chief Cope said that the driver wasn’t using the right kind of GPS for trucks and got directed down the wrong road. He reported that the driver was cited for this incident.
TOWNSHIP ENGINEER
Tadmor 2 must still complete some road improvements.
Plans to renovate the Penn Dixie bridge will be submitted to PennDOT for approval. The money to rehabilitate the bridge will be paid with Liquid Fuel Funds.
The Concept Plan for drainage in Farmview Estates is being worked on.
TOWNSHIP SOLICITOR
Approval to authorize a petition for Unit Clarification to the PA Labor Relations Board. (This will put a future Deputy Chief of Police under administration instead of in the bargaining unit.)
Approval for the township to sign an agreement about a Right-of-Way in Overlook Estates.
Approval for the township to sign an agreement for an easement in Overlook Estates.
PLANNING & ZONING
Approval of an Extension Request for the Estates of Silvercrest to September 26, 2025.
Approval to send comments from the Planning Commission of the Bath Borough Official Map and Ordinance to send to Bath Township.
Aspire Nazareth – a housing development proposed for the land next to Calandra’s Cheese Factory—was not presented at the last Planning Commission meeting due to the developer’s failure to provide signed green cards. The Supervisors approved sending the plan back to the Planning Commission after proofs of notifications are received by the office.
RECREATION
Approval to purchase sound equipment for Township events, not to exceed the cost of $779.
Approval for a softball team to take pictures in Tuskes Park after dusk.
POLICE DEPARTMENT
Approval of an Intergovernmental Agreement between UNT Police and the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 for cameras on school buses. (The cameras will show if a bus runs a red light or if cars pass it while students are entering or exiting).
OLD BUSINESS
The supervisors discussed doing a structural study of the building at 373 East Lawn Road. The Zoning Officer reported that the builder procured a demo permit for the site, but that it has expired and that he hasn’t responded to her inquiries. As a structural study could cost the Township $2,500. The Supervisors approved having the Police Department and Public Works department do an outer inspection of the property and for Gary Asteak to send a letter to the builder.

Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
