PUBLIC COMMENT
A resident from Silvercrest Road asked about roadwork planned on Township Line Road reported in The Home News earlier this Summer. She expressed concerns that any changes may lead to an increase in truck traffic. The project may include areas of Lower Nazareth, East Allen and Upper Nazareth but residents haven’t been informed of when or what will be done. There are problems with trucks turning at the Silvercrest intersection due to the powerlines and outages have been common. Township Manager Lisa Klem will contact Lower Nazareth for details as UNT should not be affected by the roadwork.
I brought up the new trespassing signs at the Schools explaining that as the policy is written, the public would not be allowed to pass through from 4th Street or Mitchell Ave during school hours, forcing pedestrians to use East Lawn or Tatamy roads instead. Several residents attended the School Board meeting last week and were assured that the school officers would not stop anyone just passing through. They’re concerned with people approaching the school or students during outdoor lessons. I lamented NASD’s lack of communication with municipalities, the police and the community which is what led to the misunderstanding.
A Broad St. Ext. resident asked about the proposed project for cleaning out the swale on the south side of Tatamy Road to improve stormwater drainage. As the swale belongs to PennDOT, she requested that the township check into having PennDOT waving the permit fee since it may be our Public Works department which does the work. The Engineer said he will be meeting with PennDOT soon.

The Engineer reported on the Gun Club Road Truck Restrictions Study. There is a notable lack of advance warning signs. He recommended that signs be posted on Newburg Road for “No trucks, No turns.” PennDOT will have to approve the signage.
