TOWNSHIP ENGINEER
Work on the Heritage Village culvert is progressing.
There will be a preconstruction meeting for the Penn Dixie Bridge in February or March with construction to begin sometime in the Spring.
The Engineer will follow up with PennDOT about work on the swale along Tatamy Road and rehabilitation of the cross pipes.
TOWNSHIP SOLICITOR
A resident from Lynwood Drive requested information concerning the proposed Fire Tax. The supervisors explained that the 1 mil allotment for the Fire Department is no longer included in the General Fund Budget, the cost is now be 1.5 mil and it will be collected as a separate tax. Fire Chief Fassl pointed out that costs for fire apparatus have risen by 105% and grants have become very competitive. A truck that cost $500,000 a few years ago now costs $1.3 million. The resident asked why the Library tax had to be levied by referendum. Manager Lisa Klem said that the Township Code gives townships the authority to pass a fire tax up to 3 mil, the Code doesn’t cover libraries so that’s why the implementation is different. Chief Fassl also pointed out that, should the fire department come to a house and put out a fire, the resident will not receive a bill for that service. The tax covers it.
Approval to adopt Ordinance No. 204 to Establish a Fire Protection Services Tax.
Approval of Resolution No. 25-22 for a Fire Protection Services Tax for 2026.
Approval of Resolution No. 25-23 to add parcels J6 14 6, J6 14 6A and J6 18 8 to the Agricultural Security Area in Bushkill Township. This resolution concerns 22 acres of land. UNT does not have an Ag Security Area and Bushkill has accepted other parcels of farmland in the past.
