Power Shift on the NASD Board

December 3, 2018 – NASD School Board Meeting

Reorganization Meeting

In a surprising power shift, the Board voted in new leadership. Linda Stubits was elected president over Mr. Treon on a vote of 5 to 4. Mr. Vasko was elected vice president over Mrs. Kalinoski on a vote of 5 to 4.  The Board has appeared contentious and divided for a while now.  This was just another example of it.

During the reorganization meeting the Board voted to approve Item 9: School Finance Items.  No idea what this was about—the agenda didn’t include any details.

Student Government Association

Hope O’Connor reported that the Winter formal will be held on February 15th and that a dress drive is underway for students who need clothes for prom and other dances.

Career Institute of Technology

Mr. Vasko reported on this year’s housing project. The dry wall is schedule to be installed this month and students will begin the inside work in January.

Presentations

Technology representatives made a case for a HPE 3 PAR Storage to handle anticipated needs for the next 5 years. Estimated cost will be $35,000.

Agenda Items

Items 7 & 11 passed. Item 13, a proposal to adopt a policy on Child Abuse, was tabled until the December 10th meeting.
