ANNOUNCEMENTS/EVENTS
A position is open on the Planning Commission. Any resident who would like to be appointed should send a Letter of Interest to the Township Office
April 19th – An MS4 (Stormwater) meeting will be held at 6:00PM
April 24th – 28th – Spring curbside yard waste collection. The pickup schedule is available on the township website
April 29th – The Yard Waste Facility on Friedenstahl Avenue opens
June 10th – Electronic Recycling Event from 9AM-11AM at 2 locations: the Yard Waste Facility on Friedenstahl Avenue and Tuskes Park. UNT Residents only!
June 16th – Movie Night at Tuskes Park
June 17th – Paint in the Park (Fundraising event)
August 26th – Paint in the Park (Fundraising event)

I thanked the UNT Fire Department and East Lawn Social Club for hosting the Easter Egg event on April 2nd. I also reported continuing problems with the gate to the Intermediate School on 4th Street. The gate is often left open during sporting events resulting in parents and students speeding through a residential neighborhood. Earlier in the week, the Police Department installed a speed tracker on 4th Street and Administration requested officers keep a closer eye on the area during afternoons
ANNUAL AUDIT RESULTS
Maher Duessel presented the 2022 Financial Audit and announced that UNT passed with the highest possible grade
PUBLIC WORKS
The Yard Waste facility will open on April 29th with Spring curbside yard waste pick up held the week before
Approval to purchase a skid steer from Foley Cat for $73,545.86 and two Chevy 5500 Dump trucks for $258,941
- Most of the cost will be covered by an LSA grant. The township will pay the remaining $35,000 out of the budget
The repair/rehabilitation work on the storm basin at Farmview Estates has been completed
Approval for the following salary increases:
- Scott Weirbach to 90% of Laborer 2 rate ($27.22/hour)
- Dan Sipel to 90% of the Laborer 2 rate ($27.22/hour)
- Don Seiple to 85% of the Laborer 2 rate ($25.71/hour)
- Steve Markley to 100% of top Laborer 1 rate ($30.24/hour)
TOWNSHIP MANAGER
The supervisors approved Lisa Klem as a Voting Delegate to the PSAT State Convention of Township Supervisors
Approval for Carroll Engineering to prepare Bid Specs for building an addition to the Township Building
- A $300K LSA grant will be used to pay for part of the construction
PLANNING AND ZONING
Kelly Jo Smith resigned. Anyone interested in filling the position should send a Letter of Interest to the Township Office
ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Approval to develop an RFP for a trail feasibility study. (Funds will come out of the Open Space budget)
Approval by 3-to-1 to negotiate an offer for land purchase of 2023-01. Rob Disbrow voted against
POLICE
Approval to accept a Retirement Letter from Debbie Knecht. Ms. Knecht has been the secretary of the Police Department for 23 years. She will officially retire at the end of April
Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
