COURTESY OF THE FLOOR

I complained about one of the industries on Tatamy Road putting out large amounts of dust and asked the supervisors if anyone was monitoring it because, at times, the dust is so thick the company runs a street sweeper to clean up the piles. Scott Sylvainus said that, as Tatamy is a PennDOT road, any complaints about street conditions should be reported to PennDOT; DEP is responsible for monitoring the air quality.

A West Highland resident asked about UNT running their public notices in The Home News as that publication does not list UNT in its coverage area. He wanted to know why ads couldn’t run in The Key. Gary Asteak explained that the state has requirements for legal ads and The Key doesn’t qualify but The Home News does.

SUPERVISOR COMMENTS

Supervisors presented Township Manager Lisa Klem with a Northampton County Outstanding Municipal Employee award.

Approval to send Amended Zoning Ordinance No. 209, concerning the harvesting of timber, to the Planning Commission, LVPC and NAZCOG for review and comments.

TOWNSHIP ENGINEER

The Engineer reported that the paving project on Gun Club Road is finished.

He will meet with PennDOT to discuss the swale and the pipes along Tatamy Road.

EAC

William Bartlett reported that 83 plantings were recently added to Harvest Grove.

RECREATION

JR Williams reported that the 2026 Car Show brought in around $3,000 and that money will go into the Recreation Fund to pay for future events.

Approval to hold the next Car Show at Tuskes Park on August 21, 2027.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Approval for the Police Department to hold a Community Holiday event beginning at 4:30PM on October 31st in the Municipal parking lot. The Fire Department and Ambulance will also participate. Hot dogs, popcorn and pizza will be available.

Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
