Nazareth School Board Meeting – February 22, 2016
Community Concerns
A resident complained about the gate on 4th Street (leading to the Intermediate School) being left open. A board member reported the gate is currently malfunctioning, but due to be repaired.
The Skills USA students and some high school athletes will be presented to the board in March to review their accomplishments.
New Board Member Installed
The Board received 3 applications for the open position. Two candidates were interviewed at tonight’s meeting. On a vote of 4 to 3, Melissa Kolonwski (sp?) from District 2 was elected to finish out the term.
Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Riker said the finance meeting has been cancelled due to the problems with the state budget.
The board is currently negotiating contracts with three different groups: the teachers, the support staff and the Teamster’s union. No update was provided on how negotiations are progressing.

Refinancing of Bonds
Kevin Reid made a presentation on a resolution to refund the General Obligation Bonds. Mr. Scott Shearer, Managing Director of King, Spry, Herman, Freund, & Faul, LLC did not make the meeting. The board voted to approve the resolution.
- The estimated savings from this resolution is estimated to be $280,000 or 4.45%
- The bonds were bought on 2/22/16 by Raymond James and the bond holders should be paid back in May 2017.
