“I Touch the Future” awards presented to Nazareth educators

Nazareth Area School Board Meeting – May 22, 2017


For the fourth year, the district presented “I Touch the Future” awards to honor former employees and board members who have continue to educate and serve after their retirement.  Superintendent Dennis Riker gave awards to:

  • Barbara Abel taught 3rd grade at Shafer and, since her retirement, has served as an accompanist for many of the district’s choral groups.
  • Barry Honsel, taught Algebra at the middle school after 40 years and has continued to teach math.
  • Greg Shoemaker was the principal of Kenneth Butz Elementary for 7 years.

Becky Bartlett is an Upper Nazareth resident and covers these meetings because residents have a right to be informed about what their government is doing.
