Community Concerns
A resident asked about bamboo in the township. Several surrounding communities have banned it because bamboo can be an invasive plant that damages foundations. The supervisors said they would look into it.
A resident wanted to know if the township is prepared for an emergence: storm, snow, etc, and if they are aware of people who live alone or on oxygen or other devices. There have been some issues with emergency vehicles finding addresses because not all houses are marked appropriately.
Township Discussions
Donna Hirsh wanted to take a vote on moving to a single-hauler, however the supervisors announced they wouldn’t take a vote on this issue until the November 15th meeting. Also, the vote had not been announced on the agenda.
Donna Hirsh wants the township to install more stop signs and possibly a streetlight on Friedenstahl Avenue because of speeding. Students cross the road on their way to and from school. If a crossing guard is added the township would have to absorb the cost.
Your Tax Dollars at Work
The supervisors approved goals for a minimum fund balance (Policy #19).
The supervisors approved a credit card policy (#20). The bank was changed to Embassy Bank.
The supervisors approved the opening of a position for a full-time police officer.
Many thanks to Joanne Messenhelner to covering this meeting. Citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
