November 5, 2018 – NASD School Board Meeting
Absent: Denise Glaros
Career Institute of Technology
CIT will hold an open house on November 12th from 5:30 – 8:00 PM.
Every year, CIT students build a house. While they’re on track to have this year’s home finished by the end of the school year, the weather caused a mold issue. Tests were done to make sure the mold was not a dangerous variety and the project received the all clear to continue building.
School Presentations
Intermediate teachers and students did a presentation on IGNITE—a program for 3rd graders to help ease their transition into fourth grade at a new school.
Butz Elementary teachers showed the Board their experimentation with flexible seating in 2nd grade and kindergarten classes.
Professionals from the Middle School proposed increasing their class time from 42 minutes to 72 minutes. Right now, too much educational time is lost to set up and breakdowns in technology and science classes. The change would take place for the 2019-2020 school year
