The Board of Supervisors of Upper Nazareth Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, will conduct a Public Hearing and consider adoption of the following proposed Ordinance at its Regular Meeting on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 7:00 PM at the Nazareth Intermediate School, 355 Tatamy Road, Nazareth, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
The Board of Supervisors invite public comment on the proposed Ordinance, the following of which is only a summary:
AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING AN ADDITIONAL 0.25% EARNED INCOME TAX FOR OPEN SPACE FUNDING.
Imposition of an additional Earned Income Tax at the rate of 0.25% by Upper Nazareth Township shall be used for financing the acquisition of open space, for the purpose of acquiring agricultural conservation easements, for the purpose of acquiring property development rights, and for the related fees and expenses as authorized by law. This Ordinance has been authorized by the registered electors of Upper Nazareth Township in accordance with a Referendum approved by majority vote on November 5, 2019. The amount of revenue estimated to be derived from the tax is approximately $600,000.00 annually.
Copies of the proposed Ordinance are available for public inspection at the Upper Nazareth Township Municipal Building, 100 Newport Avenue, Nazareth, Pennsylvania, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
