Supervisors establish an Environmental Advisory Council

June 2, 2021 – UNT Supervisor’s Meeting

Announcements

The Nazareth Memorial Library is celebrating its 70th birthday this week.

Public Comment

A resident (me) pointed out that the agenda had not been available on the website prior to the meeting. Administration explained that they are currently short-staffed.

Solicitor

Approval of Ordinance No. 185  which establishes an Environmental Advisory Council.

Seven residents will sit on the board, serving 3-year staggered terms. They will monitor the Open Space program and make recommendations to supervisors. They will not receive payment for their services but can appropriate funds for expenses.

Five residents have already expressed interest in joining the board. Any resident who would like to serve should contact Township Manager Lisa Klem at manager@uppernazarethtownship.org

Public Works

Public Works wants to purchase an asphalt planer and a roller for $79,726.40. The township has received an LSA grant from the County for $35,000. With $20,000 from the budget, Supervisors would have to approve taking an additional $24,726 from the equipment fund. A discussion followed the debate about how Public Works is running out of space to store their trucks and other equipment.

Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
