SUPERVISORS

Approval of a fire hydrant agreement for Gum Street. The water company will install a hydrant on Gum Street and the township will pay $22.80/month in maintenance costs. Brian Sayago pointed out that this issue came up because a resident had brought it to the township’s attention. He asked if there were other issues in the township. The fire department had said it wasn’t necessary to install a hydrant on Gum Street because their hoses can reach to other hydrants and they have vehicles that carry water. The fire chief said there are areas without hydrants in the west end, but it wouldn’t be feasible to install them there. The engineer added that SALDO requires there be a hydrant within 300 ft of a home so this shouldn’t be an issue for any new construction.

TOWNSHIP SOLICITOR

Approval to advertise for a meeting date regarding SALDO.

TOWNSHIP ENGINEER

Work on the Penn Dixie Bridge has begun.

The MS4 (stormwater) audit from DEP didn’t find any issues and gave the township high marks.

The Planning Commission will discuss a recent application concerning a proposed development at Schoeneck Overlook.

A stormwater pipe is decaying on the east end of Route 191 and needs to be replaced. The pipe was installed around 1962. PennDOT is claiming that they don’t take care of parallel pipes so the township will need to talk to them about who is responsible for the repairs.

TOWNSHIP MANAGER

The supervisors discussed the design of a logo/township seal to use on letterheads, business cards, cars, etc.

PLANNING & ZONING

Approval of an extension request for the Nazareth Borough Yard Waste facility until May 31, 2027.

PUBLIC WORKS

Approval to hire a full-time laborer.

Shawn Shupe reported that there’s been more vandalism at Tuskes Park than what they typically see there.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Approval to establish the part-time police pay rate at $35/hour with incentives.

Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
