I thanked the township for installing speed signs on Friedenstahl Road. Traffic seems to be slowing down in that area.

A resident on Daniel’s Road reported that the street light at the intersection of Daniel’s and Georgetown Roads is out.

An attendee complained about the cost of sending 9 public works employees plus Supervisor JR Williams to a PSATS education seminar later this year. JR reported that he’s attend many hands-on educational expos in the past and found them very useful.

SUPERVISOR COMMENTS

Approval to adjust the mileage allowance from 0.725 to 0.76, in line with the IRS recommendation. The increase takes affect as of July 1st.

William Bartlett motioned for UNT write a letter to DEP, objecting to Hercules Cement Co.’s (Buzzi Unicem’s) request for exceptions to the Clean Air Act in regards to emissions of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds at its Stockertown plant. Motion passed.

JR Williams reported that he’s had positive feedback on the installation of speed signs on Friedenstahl Avenue.

William Bartlett asked about repainting crosswalks on Friendenstahl Ave. Brian Sayago asked if a traffic study should be done in relation to students crossing the road to access the schools. A study was done in the past and Lisa Klem said she would look it up.

TOWNSHIP ENGINEER

The Engineer is reviewing the School District’s plans for their new administration building and sports fields on the property at the corner of East Lawn Road and Friedenstahl Ave.

With the Penn Dixie Bridge project completed, it’s time to move forward with the one-way project on Michael’s School Road.

The paving project on Gun Club Road will take place in mid-to-late September.

He continues to push PennDOT to replace the stormwater pipe on Route 191.

TOWNSHIP MANAGER

Lisa Klem announced she is working on a grant for AV equipment.

The Fire Department has received their new truck.

PLANNING AND ZONING

The School District plan for the 9 acres on the corner of East Lawn Road and Friedenstahl Ave will be discussed at the meeting in September.

PUBLIC WORKS

Approval of an increase in pay for an employee from 95% to 100% of the top rate ($33.05)

Approval of an increase in pay for an employee from 90% to 95% of the top rate ($31.40)

Approval of an increase in pay for an employee from 85% to 90% of the top rate ($29.75)

RECREATION

Wet weather is predicted for this weekend. The car show, scheduled for August 22nd, may be moved to September 19th, depending on the forecast.

EAC

William Bartlett reported that the walking paths at Harvest Grove have been mowed.

POLICE DEPARTMENT

Approval to reimburse a police officer for a class.
