SUPERVISORS

Brian Sayago announced that a ceremony had been held recently on Route 248 at the border of Nazareth and Upper Nazareth for a village built by Dexter Cement for its employees in the late 1800s. The village was torn down in 1953, but some former residents still live in the area. Heidelberg Cement put up a sign remembering the village.

William Bartlett made a motion for wording to be added to the Zoning Ordinance draft to be sent to the Planning Commission concerning data centers –that applicants have to file a ‘thermal impact mitigation plan.’ Motion passed.

Approval to advertise the updated SALDO Ordinance.

TOWNSHIP ENGINEER

The culvert at Heritage Village has been completed.

Gun Club Road will be closed during construction in mid-to-late summer. A detour plan is being working on.

The work on the Penn Dixie bridge continues.

TOWNSHIP SOLICITOR

Approval to ratify the Maintenance Agreement between Kay Scenic View LCC and UNT.

Gary Asteak discussed the Aspire I and II proposed project for the land at the corner Friedenstahl Ave and East Lawn Road (the old Calandra Track). The land was condemned and is now owned by the Nazareth Area School District. One More Properties LLC had a plan to build apartments filed with the township and hasn’t withdrawn it. The new SALDO does not allow for more than one plan to be filed on a property. Gary expects NASD to file their plan by July.

Approval for Gary to send a response to a letter from the Nazareth Ambulance Board.

TOWNSHIP MANAGER

Approval of a new seal/logo for the township.

PUBLIC WORKS

Approval of an $8,600 quote from Frank Bubba & Sons to replace the concrete steps at the front of the township building on Newport Avenue.

Public Works employees are repairing the street lamps on 1st, 2nd and 3rd streets in Farmview Estates.

MS4

The township’s MS4 permit is in the process of being review.

RECREATION

Fifty-three people took part in the 5K over the weekend.

EAC

William Bartlett reported he walked through Harvest Grove with a planner from Edge of the Woods. Most of the trees are doing well, but the meadow and paths need to be mowed.

Upper Nazareth will receive a ‘Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve Ecological Stewardship’ award for best large-scale project for Harvest Grove at the 2026 Native Plant conference on June 12th in Doylestown.

Becky Bartlett covers these meetings because citizens have a right to know what their government is doing.
